Early in the tournament, in a three-way battle preflop, Derek Normand, Gabriel Andrade, and Antti Marttinen all got their money in the middle.
Marttinen tabled [KhKs] while Normand also tabled [KcKd], and Andrade then confidently flipped over [AhAc], a true dream spot.
Andrade was feeling very comfortable before the flop, but when it came [6d9d2d], his mood quickly changed as he realized Normand held the only diamond.
Both Andrade and Marttinen were relieved to see the [10s] brick on the turn, but then the [Jd] smacked down on the river to give Normand the flush to scoop the huge pot.
He has then used this momentum throughout the rest of the tournament to run up a big stack and become the chip leader.
"As soon as I won that, I just knew it was my night," Normand commented on it later.
